This five-story museum offers approximately 30,000 works of art ranging from a span of 5,000 years. Walters Art Gallery houses an impressive collection of Egyptian artifacts, medieval armor and jewelry, Renaissance and Baroque paintings, Islamic and Byzantine art, and more. A "new" edition called the Hackerman House, built in 1974, offers a fascinating collection of Asian Art. Also available is a fairly priced gift shop and sculpture court.

The museum is located in the historic Mt. Vernon neighborhood and is just down the road (South) from the Washington Monument. If you’re turned on by art even a little bit, this is a great place to find some excellent exhibits. The Gallery is best reached by private vehicle.
